What causes pearly penile papules?

Pearly penile papules (often known as PPP) are small white spots found around the head of the penis. The spots (or papules) are small, smooth and measure about 1mm-3mm.

As yet, medical science is yet to discover what actually causes pearly penile papules. However, we do know what DOESN’T cause them – they are NOT related to sexual activity or personal hygiene.

The good news is that they pose absolutely no threat to health and shouldn’t cause any pain. It’s a very common condition, with almost 20% of males developing them.

Treating pearly penile papules

Some men who want to get rid of these white spots try to do so with home remedies.

If you carry out a quick search on the internet you will bring up a myriad of websites all promising miracle home remedies that will work. The most popular home remedies that claim effectiveness include toothpaste and tea tree oil.

Unfortunately, not one of these websites can give any concrete proof that home remedies work. In fact, all medical research so far quite clearly shows that there is no medication you can apply to the area or digest that will work.

The only proven way to get rid of pearly penile papules is to undergo a simple medical procedure, carried out by a highly experienced surgeon.

The Pearly Penile Papules Centre is a London based clinic offering a 100% safe, pain free and permanent medical procedure for the removal of pearly penile papules. The clinic’s medical director Dr Joshua Berkowitz is an expert surgeon with over 30 years surgical experience.

How does it work?

After an initial consultation to confirm the diagnosis and plan the treatment, anaesthetic cream is applied, and when the skin in numb the doctor uses an instrument called a hyfrecater to easily remove the papule.

There is virtually no discomfort during the procedure, and recovery afterwards is instantaneous. You must abstain from sex or masturbation for about 10 days while the skin recovers completely, but during this time you may do everything else that you would normally do.

So while we may not know what exactly causes pearly penile papules, at least we know how to effectively get rid of them. Arrange a consultation today to find out more about this safe, effective, permanent, pain-free treatment.
